City Of Norway, Iowa Renews Contract With VizAbility For Wireless Monitoring Of Wastewater Lift Station
Wireless solution provides increased operational efficiency and system confidence
Cedar Rapids, IA The City of Norway has renewed its contract with VizAbility, LLC to provide wireless monitoring and alarm notification for the city's East Side wastewater lift station. The service provides real-time monitoring of the lift station with immediate wireless alarm notification via almost any communications device, including pagers, cell phones or e-mail.
The agreement will help the city meet its current monitoring needs, but will also help manage projected growth in the city.
Service Provides Peace of Mind
"VizAbility's wireless monitoring and alarm notification system has provided us with the exact kind of monitoring information we need," said Gary Butz, Mayor, City of Norway. "It's very reliable and I sleep better at night knowing that if our lift station operates out of set parameters, we are notified and the team knows the type of issue they face. That allows them to take the appropriate action to keep our system in service."
The wireless monitoring solution will continue to enable City of Norway staff to keep the wastewater treatment system operating and prevent potential catastrophic failures, such as pump failure that could result in sewage backups. Those types of failures can result in state and EPA sanctions.
"Knowing that we can act on an issue instead of reacting to a problem gives us tremendous peace of mind," said Butz.
Technological Strength
Combining proprietary wireless technology with respective wastewater control panels and systems and environmental testing equipment, VizAbility is able to provide municipalities and water/wastewater treatment providers with the ability to monitor alarms, environmental levels and static controls in real-time. This assists municipalities and government agencies to proactively analyze and trend events sooner rather than later.
Municipalities can save tremendous resources by integrating VizAbility EM with wastewater management systems. The technology can remotely monitor all key aspects of water plant lift station pumps, retention ponds, water towers and other key components of water-works infrastructure. Real-time monitoring gives cities and municipalities the confidence that they'll know about problems before they become issues that affect residents and potential EPA fines. It is also becoming increasingly important for cities and municipalities to monitor theses Homeland Security "soft spots."
"Our services are the premier wireless monitoring solution available for wastewater management and water quality," said Ken Terukina, director of sales and marketing, VizAbility, LLC. "Our services are flexible enough to integrate with changing technologies. One thing that doesn't change, though, is the need to have access to real-time, accurate information, and our solutions provide that."
