Chlorine Levels Fall For Canadian Leisure Center After Installation Of UV Water Treatment System

Slough, UK — Hanovia recently sold its first UV system in Canada for pool water combined chlorine destruction. Delivered to the Renfrew Park Community Center in Vancouver, the Hanovia Photon medium pressure UV system is treating water in the Center's busy whirlpool, used by over 250 people per day.

"Since the Hanovia UV system was installed combined chlorine levels have dropped from 0.6ppm to just 0.1ppm," said Frank Mastromonaco, Supervisor of Maintenance Technicians for Vancouver's Board of Parks and Recreation. "We used to empty and refill the whirlpool twice a week, but since UV was installed we now only do it once a month," he added.

"We chose Hanovia as the company has a proven track record in the pool industry and we have certainly not been disappointed," continued Frank. "Not only have combined chlorine levels dropped, but the whirlpool water is much clearer and less foamy, even with the jet pump on. The air around the pool is also much improved, with none of the 'chlorine' smells and eye irritations normally associated with indoor pools. Staff and visitors alike have really noticed the difference and have commented on it."

"Investing in UV was definitely worthwhile. In fact we are so pleased with the performance of system that we are installing another to treat the whirlpool at our Kensington Centre, " concluded Frank.

The Hanovia UV system is currently running 24/7 and the UV lamp is expected to last at least one year before needing replacement. This is a simple operation that can be carried out by on-site staff. Compact and easy to install within existing pipework, all Hanovia UV systems are simple to operate and require minimal maintenance.
