California Updates COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility For Water, Wastewater Workers

On March 11, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) updated its COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Guidelines. Specifically, CDHP expanded the scope of emergency services in Phase 1B to include “Utility Workers (electricity, gas, water, waste, roads/highways) that provide emergency support.”

The new guidelines are being implemented on March 15.

ACWA advocated in December for the inclusion of water industry professionals among essential workers who qualify for early vaccination. CDPH’s initial vaccine guidelines, issued in January, included water and wastewater workers in Phase 1C.
