To further expand its research and development capabilities, BioAir Solutions—a leading global provider of biological odor and air emission control solutions—has developed and built an innovative “tool” to test new technologies and provide customers with proof of concept.

Known as the Mobile Research Center (MRC), this portable laboratory consists of eight full-scale reactors contained in a 52-foot trailer. The MRC provides unlimited capabilities for creating variable operating conditions in highly controlled, measureable environments. This enables BioAir to test and optimize different odor control media under different process conditions, and to effectively quantify the performance of a variety of treatment solutions for a given application. The MRC also enables customers to “test drive” BioAir’s innovative biological technologies for handling odors and air emissions and to develop a customized solution for their particular situation.

According to Louis le Roux, president of BioAir Solutions, the Mobile Research Center is another example of the company’s commitment to providing science-based solutions to the odor challenges facing municipal and industrial wastewater plant owners and operators.

“Since entering the marketplace eight years ago, BioAir has heavily invested in research and development to create superior solutions for handling odors and air emissions,” said le Roux. “Our first installation in Jacksonville, Florida was a five-reactor pilot plant that provided the data we needed to further refine and validate our cutting edge biotrickling filter technology. The creation of the Mobile Research Center is the next step in our commitment to providing scientifically proven, customized, scalable biological solutions with particular emphasis on the removal of organic odors and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). The MRC will also allow BioAir to provide immediate feedback to our customer on the efficiency of a given solution in treating actual emissions from their specific facility.”

BioAir’s president also added that the Mobile Research Center would be instrumental in the company’s goal to develop next-generation, sustainable biological solutions for treating air emissions found in municipal wastewater treatment plant and industrial airstreams.

BioAir Solutions develops new technologies and solutions to make biological odor and air emissions control more efficient, reliable and cost-effective for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities. For more information, visit www.bioairsolutions.com.
