AWWA Releases Four New Publications For Water Operators And Utility Managers

Publications now available in AWWA's online store

The American Water Works Association recently announced the release of four new and updated publications:

• M44 Distribution Valves: Selection, Installation, Field Testing, and Maintenance, Third Edition;
• M53 Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration Membranes for Drinking Water, Second Edition;
• Energy Management for Water Utilities; and
• Advanced Oxidation Handbook.

Included in the new edition of M44 are the latest methodologies and technologies for handling, inspecting, shipping and storing valves and their related parts. To provide context, a brief history and an overview of the theory of valves is included. Data in the manual has been updated to reflect frequently used valves and special-use valves.

The new edition of M53 explores the use of membranes in varied applications, operations and system designs. It focuses on membrane science and theory, system concepts, membrane manufacturers, applications and pilot testing, residuals management and future trends.

Focusing on crucial steps to develop and implement an energy management program for a water or wastewater utility, Energy Management for Water Utilities points to the importance of establishing an energy team, benchmarking energy use, performing audits and using economic analysis tools.

And the Advanced Oxidation Handbook concentrates on the fundamentals of the design and operation for advanced oxidation technologies and the possible applications, such as micropollutant treatment, treatment of taste and odor compounds and water reuse treatment.
