AWWA Announces An In-Depth Webcast: 'Response To A Communitywide Waterborne Outbreak'
On Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) will host the "Response to a Communitywide Waterborne Outbreak" webcast.
The webcast will provide details of an actual waterborne disease outbreak in a sizable community. Public health professionals along with a utility response team will describe the methods used to respond to such an emergency in an effort to improve future response efforts.
An in-depth investigation will educate viewers in assessing water quality investigation methods and the Colorado Water and Wastewater Agency Response Network's (CoWARN) response coordination to a community health emergency. Applying operations response to sanitize an entire community water system, conduct a cross-connection control investigation, and restore water services will also be covered.
Webcast presenters include:
- Alicia Cronquist, Foodborne and Enteric Disease Epidemiologist, CDPHE, Denver, CO
- Mary Smith, Drinking Water Security & Distribution Lead, Water Quality Control Division, CDPHE, Denver, CO
- Fred J. Sanchez, Water Quality Operations Supervisor, Denver Water, Denver, CO
- Jim Chesley, Water Control Analyst, Denver Water, Denver, CO
