One of Kupferle’s specialities are automatic flushing devices, which allow customers to be able to flush water without having to send someone out into the field. When overhead is already high, these help cut down on costs by allowing a customer to flush water at off-peak hours when demand is low. They also help keep everyone in compliance by maintaining chlorine residual levels at the exact level they need to be.

The company’s website has a cost-benefit calculator where a utility can enter information such as the diameter of the pipe, how long the dead-end main is and the number of customers. It will then calculate exactly how much time is needed to keep chlorine residuals at the correct level.

Bachhuber also mentions that his company offers a line of hydrants with 100% above ground maintenance and introduces Kupferle’s newest device that gets away from one-time based flushing with regular automatics. The new unit incorporates a chlorine analyzer.
