Atlantis Technologies Selected By The Artemis Project As A 2012 Top 50 Water Company

The Southern California based water treatment technology start-up Atlantis Technologies (www.atlantis-water.com) is pleased to announce that it has received the 2012 Artemis Top 50 Water Tech Listing (http://artemistop50.com/) at an award ceremony in Berkeley, CA on September 15, 2012.  The Artemis Top 50 is the water industry’s benchmark for clean tech innovation that will matter. It identifies the new solutions that will meet the world's water challenges,” stated Laura Shenkar, Chair of the Artemis Top 50.  “The Top 50 represents some of the most promising start-ups in the emerging high tech wave in water.”

Adding to the prestigious endorsement of their cutting edge technology, the Company was named one of the top five “Most Promising” clean technologies of 2012. The Atlantis desalinization technology, which evolved from military research, was selected by a jury that included experts from corporations such as Intel, Archer Daniels Midland, IBM, Ecolab and Syngenta as well as McKinsey, CH2M Hill, Carollo Engineers and Singapore’s Public Utilities Board. Patrick Curran, CEO of Artemis said that  “we are proud that water industry veterans, engineering firms and private equity investors found that our cost-effective, dependable desalinization system for difficult industrial wastewater effluents represents a major disruptive technology for many sectors like mining, oil and gas produced/frack water, utility systems and municipal wastewater treatment plants”.  The Company’s technology is anchored by its patented, radial de-ionization (RDI) process that is proven to be more economical and less energy intensive than traditional membrane filters without using harsh or hazardous chemicals.

This will allow us to move the system from rigorous lab and bench scale testing to commercial application and mitigate risks for future investment partners”.  Some of the core applications that the company is targeting include produced water from oil, gas and mining segments, FGD scrubber blowdown in the utility market segment, reverse osmosis reject wastewater streams and cooling tower blowdown across a number of market segments.

The modular and scalable nature of the Atlantis packaged plant solutions means the Company will be able to provide systems compatible to conventional brine and other soluble removal systems but with a new configuration that provides better performance, lower costs and greater flexibility. The water industry as a whole shows tremendous growth potential reflected in a new study from Global Water Intelligence that predicts that the produced water treatment equipment market will grow from $693M in 2010 to $2.9B, an annual growth rate of 10.1%. The desalination technologies market is the fastest growing segment in that space and projected to grow by an average of 20.4% per year.
