Arcadian Introduces Advanced Aeration For Flowback Impoundments

Arcadian Technologies recently announced the introduction of the Helios 3000 advanced aeration technology for hydraulic fractured flowback impoundments. The system is deployed on the pond floor making it the only subsurface aeration system deployed for flowback waters. The Helios 3000 features a proprietary technology utilizing both coarse and fine bubbles to create more surface area. The additional surface area can achieve up to three times the normal evaporation rate. Positioning the Helios 3000 on the floor of the pond allows efficient saturation of the oxygen through the entire column of water. Air is fed to the submerged units by a shore based blower through weighted air hoses. There are no power lines in the water, a safety concern to many operators.

In addition to the increased evaporation, the addition of dissolved oxygen provides effective treatment to the water. This is an important step in conditioning the water for recycling at the wellhead. Dependent on site conditions, various benefits include decreases in carbon dioxide levels, reduction in hydrocarbons, pH balancing, decrease in hydrogen sulfides (odor), and increased levels of dissolved oxygen. “Water availability promises to become more difficult for hydraulic fracturing. We already see drought issues in California, Wyoming, and Texas. Operators are increasingly looking for cost effective and low cost-per-barrel solutions to evaporate rapidly and increase water recyclability,” Arcadian CEO Chris Choate noted.

Arcadian’s advanced aeration technology has hundreds of installations in municipal and industrial applications in the U.S and around the world. The Company is now offering the system to the hydraulic fracturing industry. The system is straightforward to install, has no moving parts, and is low maintenance. Additionally, Arcadian offers complete engineering design and implementation services.

About Arcadian Technologies, LLC
Arcadian was formed in early 2014 to market advanced aeration for water treatment to the oil and gas sector. The technology has been deployed for over 20 years in municipal and industrial water treatment establishing a proven track record.
