AMERICAN Plays A Role In Rebuilding Puerto Rico's Infrastructure

In the heart of the Caribbean, Puerto Rico’s spirit has been tested time and again by powerful storms — none more devastating than Hurricane Maria in 2017. With winds reaching 155 miles per hour, Maria ravaged the island’s infrastructure, leaving behind a long road to recovery. Today, AMERICAN Ductile Iron Pipe and AMERICAN Flow Control are proud to stand at the forefront of rebuilding efforts, helping to restore safe, reliable water and wastewater systems. Backed by FEMA, the EPA, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and guided by the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA), more than 11,000 recovery projects are underway.
Critical initiatives like the Guayama Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade and the Roosevelt Avenue bridge replacement are strengthening the island’s future, utilizing American-made materials that meet strict Build America, Buy America standards. As Puerto Rico’s complex, fragmented infrastructure demands tailored solutions, AMERICAN’s products — and dedication — are making a lasting impact. Serving 3.5 million residents and 4 million visitors annually, these efforts mark a powerful step toward resilience and revitalization for the island’s communities.
