Advanced Technology Increases ROI In New Ecuador Wastewater Plant
Whether an expansion, renovation, or greenfield installation, wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) projects are no simple matter. It often takes years to plan, specify, and begin construction. In many cases, engineers will settle for familiar technologies, hoping they can avoid risk and focus on delivering a solution that will meet the broader strokes of the design requirements, even if they are not the most ideal.
The danger comes in thinking there is a single technology suitable for all applications. In truth, every plant has its own characteristics and needs. These factors need to be analyzed in order to understand which technology will provide the greatest benefit.
The city of Guayaquil, Ecuador weighed these factors when building a new Esclusas WWTP in the southern part of the city. By selecting cutting-edge, high-efficiency turbo blowers for a secondary treatment plant, the city was able to save a significant amount of money on energy costs, along with additional benefits it would not have realized had they settled for more common blower technology.
