Founded in 2017, under the consolidation of global water industry leaders Emefcy and RWL Water, Fluence was established with a vision to become the key global provider in decentralized water and wastewater solutions.
The Nirobox containerized system provides desalination of brackish and sea water in a small plug-and-play system that is affordable, efficient, and easy to maintain.
Learn how Fluence helped improve Italcanditi’s wastewater treatment capabilities by adding waste-to-energy with an EFC anaerobic reactor.
Fluence provided a packaged wastewater treatment plant for the Boleo Mine. The water treated is used for dust suppression around the mining operation, and the concentrated sludge can be safely handled.
According to the International Energy Agency, “Renewable, sustainable energy generation is projected to be the fastest-growing energy sector over the next two decades.” In fact, many countries, including the USA, encourage waste-to-energy systems through government financial incentives. Anaerobic Digesters reduce waste streams, control water pollution, divert organics from landfills, produce organic fertilizer and generate energy. Learn the basics here.
Learn how Fluence upgraded Amadori’s existing WWTP, adding anaerobic digestion and nitrification-denitrification systems.
Learn how Fluence helped the city of Obregon, Mexico overcome severe ecological challenges, save energy, and treat wastewater for reuse.

Megalim Solar Power Ltd’s Power Station, located in Israel’s northern Negev desert, will be the first utility-scale solar thermal or concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in operation in Israel when completed. To minimize fresh water usage in the cooling cycle and boiler makeup of the power plant, Fluence designed and supplied a containerized system for treatment of cooling tower blowdown wastewater for reuse and the production of ultrapure water (UPW).
In 2001, with the growing population at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, and expected future growth, a wastewater treatment system was needed to handle the increase in flows. Fluence worked directly with the United States Navy to design an advanced wastewater treatment plant to meet those needs. The intent was to supply four or five large packaged wastewater treatment systems at different locations around the base.
Aerators are a central component of wastewater treatment operations and can play a vital role in treating freshwater bodies as well. However, aeration equipment can be an energy consumption pain point for the bottom line of any operation.
Cartiere di Tivoli papermill, headquartered in Villa Adriana, Tivoli, Italy, produces jumbo paper for corrugated board and tissue for industrial use. The plant produces over 300 ton/d of paper products. The plant’s wastewater treatment equipment was outdated and the discharge did not meet permit levels.
Fluence brings together breakthrough water treatment technologies and proven delivery platforms to effectively optimize the water cycle for the 21st century. We provide local, sustainable, fast-to-deploy [rapidly deployable] water, wastewater treatment and reuse solutions for the middle market, empowering businesses and communities worldwide to make the most of their water resources.
SOLUTIONS FOR THE COMPLETE WATER CYCLE
We offer an integrated range of services across the complete water cycle, from early stage evaluation, through design and delivery, to ongoing support and optimization of water related assets. Our solutions include:
WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE
Fluence is a global leader for mid-size decentralized water and wastewater solutions that stands out from the competition by virtue of:
The Fluence Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR) is a modular, decentralized wastewater treatment process that saves up to 90% of the energy used in conventional technologies. This technology is based on spirally-wound respiring membranes which provide oxygen to the process and support the growth of a nitrifying biofilm. Through an integrated process of simultaneous nitrification and de-nitrification, the MABR produces high quality effluent with minimal operational input.
GLOBAL INSTALLED BASE
Headquartered in New York with a global staff of over 300 highly trained water professionals and an experienced and established board and management team, Fluence currently possesses over 7,000 references in more than 70 countries worldwide. Fluence has ongoing operations in a dozen countries with core operations in North America, South America, the Middle East and Europe. Fluence is now expanding into the vast rural wastewater treatment market in China.
