WWW™ inDENSE™ Hydrocyclone Wasting

Optimizing the performance of conventional activated sludge systems, WWW™ inDENSE™ is a gravimetric selection technology that retains denser biomass, while the lighter fraction of the mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) flows out as waste activated sludge (WAS). Promoting higher densities in this way improves sludge settling characteristics, preventing the loss of biomass and other treatment disruptions — especially during wet and cold weather events.
By selectively wasting WAS, inDENSE™ promotes MLSS densification, increases clarifier capacity and improves plant performance. In terms of how it works, WAS enters the hydrocyclone system at a specific pressure. The hydrocyclone then separates the sludge into a lighter phase that is wasted, while the denser phase returns to the underflow. This denser sludge retains the beneficial bacteria and also reduces chemical requirements. Other benefits include an ability to integrate inDENSE™ into any existing plant, a rapid return on investment, greater operational stability and improved sludge volume index (SVI).
