WILO Smart Pumps Available To Greatly Reduce Energy Consumption Of The Nation's HVAC Systems

Because energy is a valuable commodity, WILO USA recently introduced to the US market the world's first line of high-efficiency circulators, Stratos-ECO (for residential use) and Stratos (for commercial use). The complete line is available to drastically reduce energy consumption by up to 80 percent over conventional single-speed pumps. These smart pump, cutting-edge circulators, introduced in Europe in 2001 and only recently becoming available to the US market, incorporate ECM (Electronic Commutated Motor) technology and integral variable speed drive, resulting in a revolutionary improvement in efficiency when compared to asynchronous motors. These advanced, UL-approved circulators are ready to ship, with backup support and US application testimonies immediately available.
"We are positioned to provide end users with the most technologically advanced and energy efficient circulators available in the industry at a time when the nation is poised to realize the benefits of such technology," said Mike Easterley, CEO and president, WILO USA. "Everyone wins with this technology – first and foremost the environment, but also the end user by saving energy and cost, and the installer by providing the most efficient and high-quality product to customers while enjoying the extreme ease of installation of our circulators," Easterley added.
Standard single-speed pump technology in place in HVAC systems in homes and buildings all over this country are pumping away unnecessary energy by constantly circulating the same volume of heating and cooling liquid regardless of the flow that is actually needed in real time. WILO's smart pumps constantly fine tune the circulation of fluid to a zone based on the exact level of heating or cooling required in real time, thereby greatly reducing the amount of electricity used. In addition to the energy needed to circulate the fluid, WILO's smart pumps also maximize the efficiency of the energy being used in the primary heating or cooling loop.
WILO Stratos-ECO - the world's first high-efficiency circulator for residential use
The WILO Stratos-ECO, offering quick and easy installation, is an award-winning standard for high-efficiency residential circulators. Automatically adjusting to system demands, pressure by-pass valves, balancing, over-pumping and noisy zones are a thing of the past. Like the commercial Stratos, the Stratos-ECO offers up to 80% energy savings compared to a constant-speed circulator, consuming only 5.8 to 59 watts.
WILO Stratos - the world's first high-efficiency circulator
The WILO Stratos, offering quick and easy installation, was introduced to the European market as the world's first high-efficiency circulator in 2001. This efficient, functional and flexible pump for heating, cooling, and air conditioning reduces annual power consumption by up to 80%. ECM technology essentially comprises a synchronous motor with a permanent magnet rotor. The unique rotor-can assembly made of synthetic composite carbon-fibre avoids eddy-current losses, thus considerably increasing overall efficiency. Additionally, the WILO Stratos is the only commercial, variable speed drive ECM pump that can be used on cooling and geothermal applications.
The reliable and quiet operation of the WILO Stratos circulator makes it ideal for use in large residential buildings, apartment blocks, housing developments, commercial real-estate complexes, hospitals, schools, and industrial and institutional buildings.
The elegantly simple red button makes the WILO Stratos easy and comfortable to operate. All essential functions of the Stratos can be controlled by means of this one button. The WILO Stratos circulator's front-mounted display shows all important operational data for technicians to read whenever necessary.
The WILO Stratos offers functionality for every requirement. In addition to issuing standard collective error messages, the Stratos can be optionally connected to local operating networks (LON). Additional IF (interface) modules with integrated dual-pump management as well as 0-10V DC capabilities can be retrofitted. Additionally, Wilo's Infared Remote capability provides wireless access to all of the Stratos' programming, monitoring and energy tracking data. Compatible with any Windows mobile-based PDA, all Stratos functions are just one touch away. With these additions, the WILO Stratos fulfills all requirements for professional building management.
