WaterSignal Featured At Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge Expo.

Sean Rayborn

Sean Rayborn, vice president of WaterSignal, a leading provider of wireless technology providing real-time water usage data, was a featured industry expert on innovative new approaches to saving water at the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge (BBC) 2015 Expo.

Launched in 2011, the Atlanta BBC was created to assist building owners and managers reduce energy and water consumption by at least 20 percent across Atlanta by 2020. As part of the Challenge, building owners commit to developing a plan and schedule for energy and water reductions.

“We are excited to team with the Atlanta BBC because our missions are identical – helping building and property owners create substantive water conservation results through today’s technologies,” states Rayborn. “Through our presentation to the 150 participants, we shared how our one system can help them save, on average, 14 percent off their total water usage while paying for itself in less than six months.

“As we look ahead, WaterSignal will seek opportunities with other Better Building Challenges to help those participants implement new technology to conserve water, lower costs and become environmentally friendly.”

WaterSignal is currently installed on properties such as Lenox Square Mall, Georgia Institute of Technology, Fulton County Schools, The Ritz-Carlton, Mall of Georgia and Northside Hospital to name a few. Currently, WaterSignal has more than 700 systems installed in 17 states around the U.S.

Utilizing breakthrough technology, WaterSignal is a self-contained, non-intrusive monitor that continuously reads the water meter and sends real-time data wirelessly to a website portal to view the property’s water consumption by the month, day or even down to the hour.

If a major leak occurs, much like an energy surge popping a circuit breaker, the device immediately alerts the manager or engineer that a water spike above the preset limit has occurred. The alert can be sent to both a computer and a smartphone for the manager to act upon, and can be customized for business hours as well as after hours and weekends.

While the WaterSignal monitoring system can help reduce the catastrophic costs associated with undetected leaks, the data the system collects plays a vital role in the building manager’s water conservation efforts.
