Bengaluru, being a water stressed city, was looking at opportunities to reuse and recycle of tertiary treated municipal sewage for cooling tower application in a nearby power plant. Jakkur STP, being a 10 MLD plant based on conventional anaerobic + conventional activated sludge, was identified to supply about 15 MLD of recycled water for the power plant. The entire plant was designed and retrofitted as two process trains of 7.5 MLD.
