Water Loss Control For Utilities

Water utilities in the United States have made progress in controlling water loss within their distribution systems, but there is still room for improvement. The American Water Works Association (AWWA) provides resources such as manuals and programs to help utilities recover and manage water loss.
Water loss can be categorized as apparent losses (inaccurate metering and accounting) or real losses (leakage from the system). To reduce water loss, utilities should conduct water audits, test production meters, review accounting and billing data, test large and small meters, and perform leak detection. Read more about leak detection services that use state-of-the-art technology and partnerships to provide efficient and effective solutions.
