Water Leaders Head To D.C. For National Policy Fly-In

This week, water and wastewater executives from across the U.S. will gather in Washington, D.C. for the National Water Policy Fly-In. Held annually, this summit bridges the technical and legislative realities of utility management.
The water industry is facing a pivotal moment, navigating the perils of aging infrastructure, PFAS and other emerging contaminants, and water affordability. During their time in D.C., utility professionals will meet with policymakers to emphasize the importance of these issues.
Among the attendees of this event will be members of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), who note that the fly-in is “an opportunity for water professionals to speak to decision makers in Congress about issues important to the water sector.”
AWWA attends the conference with a list of advocacy priorities, including resilient water systems, source water protection, and managing lead and copper in drinking water.
The first day of the Fly-In will involve briefings from senior EPA leadership, as well as conversations with prominent Members of Congress. On the second day, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in meetings on Capitol Hill to advocate for the industry’s priorities.
By gathering together to tackle the water industry’s greatest challenges, utilities of all sizes ensure a unified voice in shaping a resilient future. With a shifting regulatory landscape and many struggles ahead, the Fly-In is a critical summit for ensuring that the future of America’s water is bright.
