Protecting water from harmful microbial contamination in municipal and manufacturing applications will be the topic of the latest Water Academy seminar, jointly organised by First-AVPR Venture, Inc. (FAVI) and Hanovia. The one-day event to be held in Manila, Philippines, will focus on how to harness the power of ultraviolet (UV) technology to achieve cost-effective disinfection and dechlorination of process water.

Aimed at engineers looking to gain a greater understanding of the latest technology, the seminar is the second in a series being held across the Asia Pacific region. The use of validated UV systems is increasing significantly, with the Asia Pacific UV equipment market worth $457M in 2015 and predicted to grow by 19.5% by 2020 (Jan 2016, BCC research). Supporting this increased adoption is a need for greater understanding of the appropriate technology for specific applications, implementation practices, validation, testing and maintenance.

Hanovia, the world’s leading provider of UV disinfection technology and water treatment solutions for industrial applications, will provide a series of presentations on applying UV technology. Tim McDougle, Marketing & Sales Director, Hanovia, will provide an introduction to UV light technology; a look at how UV dechlorination can reduce water treatment maintenance and lifecycle costs and provide enhanced protection against bio-contamination; details of how UV technology can be used in applications such as process water deozonation; and an explanation of the validation process for UV systems.

Sergio Abcejo, President and General Manager, FAVI, and Poorna Rajendran, Region Manager - Asia Pacific, Hanovia, will also lead technical discussions on the application of UV disinfection technology within typical food and beverage, pharmaceutical, drinking water and process water applications.

“Within both the municipal and manufacturing industries, water quality is never compromised, and this has led to a growing demand for validated UV disinfection systems,” said Gunvinder Bhogal, Hanovia’s Global Marketing Manager. “The Water Academy seminars provide delegates with not only an opportunity to gain an understanding of current best practice, but also an insight into what the future holds in terms of innovation and technological advancements.”

Registrations are now being taken for the seminar, which takes place at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Manila, on 24th January 2018. To register, or for more information, visit www.hanovia.com/events.
