Vortechnics Expands And Promotes Staff At Corporate Headquarters In Response To Growing Stormwater Industry

Scarborough, ME - Vortechnics Inc., the leading provider of stormwater treatment systems, announced today that it has hired four new employees and promoted another at its corporate headquarters in Scarborough. The company has expanded its business team by naming Eric Roach as controller and adding Heidi Hawkes as staff accountant and Joyce Brown as receptionist. Vortechnics has also enhanced its research and development team with the addition Randy Charlton, E. I. as product development engineer. Katie Vaillancourt has been promoted to marketing coordinator.

Eric Roach has been named controller for Vortechnics and directs all financial, human resource and systems functions of the company. He has more than 12 years of combined public accounting and private industry experience in progressively responsible positions. Prior to joining Vortechnics, Roach was group controller based in Portland, Maine, for SPX Corporation, a Fortune 500 company. Previously, Roach held positions with Binax, Inc., of Portland, and Peoples Heritage Financial Group in Lewiston, Maine. Roach is a certified public accountant and holds a master's of business administration degree from the University of Southern Maine and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Maine.

Randy Charlton recently joined the research and development team as product development engineer and is responsible for the development of new stormwater quality and quantity control products. Charlton relocated to Maine from South Burlington, VT where he was project engineer for Green Mountain Engineering of Williston, VT, and was responsible for the design of residential and community water and wastewater systems. Previously, Charlton was an assistant engineer for the Palo Verde Irrigation District in Blythe, CA. Charlton holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Brunswick where he also completed coursework for his master's degree in chemical engineering.

Heidi Hawkes has been hired as staff accountant supporting the finance team. Hawkes has more than 20 years of experience with a strong background in accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger. Formerly, Hawkes was staff accountant for Collision Team of Maine in South Portland and Saco. She holds an associates degree in accounting from Monterey Peninsula College in California.

Joyce Brown joined the Vortechnics business team as receptionist and provides front-end and administrative support to the sales and marketing teams. Brown received her bachelor of arts degree in linguistics with a minor in writing from the University of Southern Maine. While earning her degree, she had work published in Words and Images, Maine's Annual Compendium of Visual and Literary Creativity. Previously, Brown was with Direct Mail of Maine of Scarborough.

Katie Vaillancourt has been promoted to marketing coordinator, directly supporting the marketing team. Responsibilities include coordinating the company's training initiatives, planning national trade shows, conducting industry market research, and writing and proofing company press and marketing materials. Vaillancourt joined Vortechnics in early spring 2003 as office manager. Vaillancourt holds a master's degree in American history with a museum studies concentration from the University of New Hampshire, Durham and a bachelor's degree in history and minor in art history from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
