VEGA Introduces Five New Series Of Level And Pressure Measurement Sensors And Controllers, Significantly Expanding Their Instrumentation Offering

VEGA Americas, Inc.

VEGA is making further investments in process measurement instrumentation technology with the release of their new series of through-air radars, compact pressure sensors, point level switches, and controllers.

The new sensors, switches, and controllers solidify VEGA as a complete supplier for level, point level, and pressure measurement instrumentation.

Two new radar series, one 80 GHz frequency
A new era in radar level measurement began a few years ago when VEGAPULS radar sensors began using 80 GHz technology. Getting accurate level measurements suddenly became much easier and more reliable due to the radar beam’s more precise focus.

VEGA’s new, compact series of radars use the same 80 GHz frequency, but these radars use a new microchip, which is smaller in size, provides a faster start-up time, and uses less energy. These radar sensors can measure the level of liquids and bulk solids. All of this results in a compact, versatile radar sensor.

The new VEGAPULS radar sensors are available in two versions: 1) compact with cable connection housing and 2) standard with a fixed IP68 cable connection. Both versions maintain steady, accurate measurements, unaffected by external influences like solar heating, air temperature fluctuations, weather conditions, buildup, and condensation. Users can choose from 4…20 mA, HART, SDI-12, or Modbus at the direct output signal, and ATEX versions are also available.

Hygienic pressure and point level with a brilliant advantage
VEGA is expanding its measurement technology portfolio with two new series of compact instruments for hygienic processes. The new VEGABAR pressure sensors and VEGAPOINT level switches use a universal hygienic adapter system, which provides the flexibility to keep installation effort and parts inventory to a minimum. Process fittings can be selected as needed to meet application-specific requirements.

All the new pressure sensors and point level switches come standard with a 360° switching status display, which can easily be seen from any direction. The color of the illuminated ring can be customized with one of 256 different colors, all of which remain clearly visible, even in daylight. At a glance, users can see when the process is running, if the sensor is switching, or if the sensor requires maintenance.

Standard IO-Link protocol is built into every pressure sensor and point level switch, ensuring universal, simple communication. This gives these instruments a standardized communication platform, enabling seamless data transfer and simple system integration.

Tough controllers meant to be seen
The new VEGAMET controllers perfectly complement all the new sensors and VEGA’s existing instrumentation, featuring a large graphic display where measured values can easily be seen in all levels of light. VEGAMET controllers are built with weather-resistant housing, so they can operate in indoor and outdoor environments, allowing for simple implementation of pump control, flow measurements in open channels, and overfill protection.

Wireless setup and operation
Every new through-air radar, pressure sensor, point level switch, and controller can be operated via Bluetooth using a smartphone or tablet. This wireless connectivity makes setup, display, and diagnostics easier in hard-to-reach areas, harsh environments, or clean rooms where physical access requires a lot of additional effort.
