How Grand Rapids, Michigan Utilized Real-Time Decision Intelligence To Eliminate Sewer Overflows

Nicole Pasch (Xylem) is joined by Mike Staal (City of Grand Rapids) to discuss how real-time decision support and digital modeling empowered the City of Grand Rapids, MI, to solve their sewer overflows as well as reduce their inflow and infiltration challenge. They will share how Xylem’s BLU-X™ Wastewater Network Optimization system is being utilized by the city to certify performance of their sanitary system in the final phase of the Wet Weather Correction Program for the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) regulators — a project that not only allowed them to improve system performance and customer service, but reduced the CAPEX required to do so from the original estimate of $1 billion down to $30-50 million.
