USFilter Water Injection System Selected For The Dalia Offshore Angola Oil Production Facility
The system, engineered by USFilter Zimpro Systems of Rothschild, Wis., will include multi-media filtration, vacuum deaeration and sulphate removal membrane skids. The complex system will supply 265,000 barrels per day of low sulphate seawater for injection to prevent barium scale formation in the reservoirs and production piping.
The award is the second water injection system with a sulphate removal package supplied by USFilter for Total's operations in Angola. The first system for the Girassol field is successfully operating and capable of 400,000 barrels per day of low sulphate injection water.
"Total's topsides provider, TSS Dalia, selected USFilter because of our ability to combine the talents of our industry experts to design, engineer and construct locally to meet their requirements," says Tim Johnson, vice president of sales and marketing for oil and gas for USFilter. "Our project execution structure allows us to provide our clients with local fabrication and inspection, while reducing shipment and installation costs."
Equipment will be manufactured in Korea according to detailed customer specifications, and will be installed on a specifically designed Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) facility that will start production in 2006. Capable of processing 240,000 barrels of oil per day, the Dalia FPSO will also have a storage capacity of 2 million barrels of oil.
Total is developing Dalia along with its partners, ExxonMobil, BP, Statoil and Norsk Hydro. Discovered in 1997, Dalia is located 135 kilometers offshore in water depths of between 1,200 and 1,500 meters. The development project includes 34 production wells, 30 water injection wells and three gas injection wells.
