United Utilities Claim Victory In The WWEM Instrumentation Apprentice Competition

This year’s the Instrumentation Apprentice Competition celebrated ten years from its inception at WWEM in 2014. The competition this year took place on 9th October 2024 and featured teams from Severn Trent Water, South West Water, Thames Water & United Utilities.
The competition took place over three rounds and was led by Oliver Grievson of AtkinsRéalis and Leo Carswell of the WRc and was supported by both supply chain companies including ABB, Siemes, Vega Control, Xylem, Hach, Endress+Hauser, Insitu-Process, RS Hydro, Badger Meter & Siris Environmental as well as the Institute of Measurement & Control.
After the three rounds of the competition the team from United Utilities came out victorious and Jamie Benson and Nathaniel Ward were presented with trophies at the WWEM Gala Dinner and will see support and development from the supporting organisations over the next year.
Oliver Grievson, co-organizer of the Instrumentation Apprentice Competition, said:
“To see so many fantastic apprentices from the water industry at the current time when the instrumentation side of the industry is seeing so many regulatory instruments being installed is heartening as the apprentices of today will be the future of the water industry.”
