TROPICANA BUILDS A NEW WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT USING JET AERATORS

As a part of an expansion program, Tropicana decided to build a wastewater treatment plant at its plant in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Mixing Systems, Inc. jet aerators and jet mixers were chosen because they were the most cost effective.
The treatment system consists of an equalization tank, an aerobic selector tank, an activated sludge basin and an aerobic digester. Jet aerators are used all of the tanks except the equalization tank where a jet mixer is used.
The in-ground, activated sludge basin is designed for a standard oxygen transfer rate of 43,000 lb/day (19,500 kg/day). This tank has three 100 HP pumps plus two operating 200 HP air blowers. The blowers also supply air to the selector and digester tanks. The selector tank is designed to run in anaerobic or aerobic mode.
