Toray Wins Reverse Osmosis Membrane Order For Singapore's Changi NEWater Factory 3

Toray Industries, Inc., announced today that it has received an order for its low-fouling reverse osmosis (RO) membranes for wastewater treatment. The RO membrane elements will be used for the Changi NEWater Factory (CNF3), a large-scale used water treatment plant in Singapore. Sanli M&E Engineering Pte. Ltd was awarded the contract for the construction of CNF3 by national water agency PUB, with Toray Asia Pte. Ltd. supplying the RO membranes and providing sales and technical support. The plant will have a treatment capacity of 50 million gallons per day and is targeted to be completed by 2028.

Toray has supplied water treatment membranes for major water infrastructure projects in Singapore over the years, which includes several NEWater and desalination plants. This latest order reflects the proven long-term performance of Toray’s low-fouling RO membranes for wastewater reclamation.

The global RO membrane market continues to expand. This growth is driven by population growth, industrial development, worsening water shortages owing to climate change, and tougher environmental regulations. Toray will further strengthen its leadership in water treatment by reinforcing its advanced membrane technologies, enhancing its global production capabilities, and providing responsive and effective technical support.
