The Nature Conservancy Joins Forces With SWAN To Drive Innovation In Smart Water Networks
Welcoming The Nature Conservancy Brightstorm Programme to the flock
The SWAN Forum (Smart Water Networks Forum) announced that The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has joined the organisation as a member through its Brightstorm programme, strengthening collaboration between the global conservation community and leaders in smart water innovation. This marks a significant step in aligning TNC’s 75-year history of pioneering work in nature-based water solutions with SWAN’s extensive digital water network expertise.
TNC’s Brightstorm programme develops, validates and provides access to open-source digital water solutions that combine sensors, real-time data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to protect critical ecosystems from stormwater pollution and help communities adapt and plan for the future. By joining the SWAN Forum, Brightstorm will connect with utilities, technology providers and researchers across the SWAN network to share its expertise, accelerate the adoption of innovative stormwater management approaches, and bring actionable insights from its real-world pilots to a wider audience.
The Nature Conservancy brings deep scientific expertise and a global track record of turning innovation into real-world impact. Their participation in the SWAN Forum through Brightstorm reflects the growing alignment between smart water technologies and nature-based solutions, and the need for collaboration to build resilient, sustainable water systems. – Dr. Amir Cahn, CEO, SWAN Forum
The Nature Conservancy works worldwide to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends, applying science, partnerships and innovation to address challenges such as water scarcity, flooding and water quality degradation. Through the Brightstorm programme, TNC will contribute its experience in watershed management and resilience planning, while learning from and collaborating with SWAN members to scale smart water approaches, especially in communities where development has altered natural hydrology and increased stormwater impacts.
Stormwater is one of the fastest-growing water challenges facing communities and freshwater ecosystems. Brightstorm demonstrates what’s possible when technology and nature work together, and joining the SWAN Forum is an essential step in accelerating that impact. By integrating Brightstorm’s research and practical insights into SWAN’s global network of innovators and utilities, we can help communities better plan for and manage stormwater, reduce flooding, improve water quality, and rapidly scale solutions that build more resilient watersheds. – Craig Holland, Senior Director at TNC and Brightstorm Programme Lead
The Nature Conservancy’s membership via the Brightstorm programme highlights SWAN Forum’s mission to bring together diverse perspectives from across the water sector to shape the future of smart, resilient water management.
