TERI And Ion Exchange India Ltd. Come Together To Revolutionize Wastewater Treatment With TADOX Technology

In a significant collaboration, The Energy and Resources Institute’s (TERI) has officially entered into a TADOX Technology and Trademark License (TTLA) Agreement with Ion Exchange India Ltd, aimed at commercializing TERI's patented wastewater treatment technology for industrial applications. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Shri G Asok Kumar, Director General National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India, Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI, Dr Nupur Bahadur, Associate Director TERI and the Inventor of TADOX Technology, Senior Management from Ion Exchange, including Mr Ajay Popat, President, Mr Aankur Patni, Executive Director and Mr Manish Gandhi, Senior Vice President.

Partnership aims to tackle industrial wastewater challenges, heralding a new era of cost effective and sustainable water management

Speaking on the occasion, Mr G Asok Kumar, Director General, NMCG expressed his happiness in the Industry Research Academia partnership that has the potential to meet Government of India’s vision of Water Management through its various programs that also encourages indigenous innovation and collaboration amongst all stakeholders.

Expressing her contentment regarding the partnership, Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI said, “Ion Exchange and TERI are trusted names in the industry, known for their credibility and technology. TERI is known for its research capabilities in developing solutions and Ion Exchange for delivering high-quality products.” Further, she was confident that the TADOX technology will help address the challenge of industries with economics of adequate treatment of wastewater, reuse and mandate to achieve affordable Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD).

“We are excited about the partnership and looking forward to applying this technology as a cost-effective solution in the markets we serve through a collaborative approach with an Institute of repute like TERI”, expressed Mr Aankur Patni, Executive Director, Ion Exchange on the importance of the technology and partnership with TERI.

Mr Ajay Popat, President, Ion Exchange, said, “I am thrilled by the prospects of our partnership with TERI and the potential of the TADOX technology in further enhancing the life cycle cost of our affordable treatment, recycle and ZLD Solutions for industrial effluents. It marks a significant step forward in addressing complex wastewater challenges, and we are eager to maximize its impact and expand its reach with our customers.”

Dr Nupur Bahadur, the Inventor and Scientist behind the development of the TADOX technology, conveyed her appreciation for the support received from the government through various projects and TERI for providing the ecosystem support throughout her journey in creating TADOX. Reflecting on her direct involvement with industry practices, problem identification, and solution development, she expressed deep satisfaction on one phase of a long journey culminating and another phase of technology deployment in field to begin. Looking forward to taking the technology for the benefit of larger stakeholder group, she said, “Our Science is proven, now the association with Industry Technology Leader like Ion Exchange will help in the faster commercialization of the technology.”

TADOX involves UV-Photocatalysis as an Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP), leading to oxidative degradation and mineralization of targeted pollutants resulting in removal of color and issues of dissolved organics in wastewater streams. It also uses novel approaches which result in reduced use of chemicals in the overall treatment leading to reduction in quantum of sludge, preventing secondary pollution. Being a retrofittable and integrated solution with reduced treatment times, TADOX provides highly resource and energy-efficient treatment with 30-40% reductions in CAPEX and OPEX.
