TechFab Introduces New Nomenclature System For C-GRID Products

Anderson, SC TechFab announced that it is introducing a new product nomenclature for C-GRID, its revolutionary line of carbon fiber grids for reinforcing concrete structures. The new nomenclature system, used for identifying and specifying the carbon grids, replaces the prior nomenclature system used by TechFab since its introduction. The new nomenclature system is designed to make it easier for users, engineers and designers to differentiate between various C-GRID products and also features a metric version to reflect the global demand for C-GRID. Concrete décor products packed in kit formats will continue to be sold as CT300 and CT550.
C-GRID products will be designated by a series number, which represents the relative size and strength of the individual carbon fiber grid elements followed by the longitudinal and transverse spacing of the grid elements in either English or metric units. Unique information about the grids may also be incorporated into the nomenclature in the form of a "Type" or "Grade" where applicable. The new nomenclature along with the old product name for TechFab's most common C-GRID products are summarized below:

The acceptance of carbon grid technology continues to grow in popularity as demand for composite, non-corrosive reinforcement for concrete product continues. A new TechFab manufacturing plant in Anderson, SC is scheduled to come on line in July 2006 to support C-GRID growth. "The new facility and machinery installation is nearly complete and currently undergoing final checkout and start-up preparations "according to Rick Clayton, Plant Manager for C-GRID. "This phase of business and technology development for TechFab, LLC is moving to a new level."
In addition, the continued growth of AltusGroup, the first ever national network of concrete precasters manufacturing CarbonCast along with its innovation partners, reflects the future direction of the industry and further acceptance of composite reinforcement use in concrete building system products. In May, TechFab along with AltusGroup partners are kicking off an ambitious nine city architectural focused educational tour entitled "Carbon Fiber Reinforced Precast: A Seminar in New Technology for Highly Sustainable Building."
