Sulzer Supports Growth Strategy With Acquisition In Denmark
Sulzer announces the signing of a binding agreement to acquire Dansk Overpumpning A/S, a Danish rental company specializing in engineered wastewater pump solutions. This acquisition marks a significant step in Sulzer’s strategy to support growth in the Nordics, expanding its rental platform and strengthening its presence in the water and wastewater segment.
Dansk Overpumpning was founded by Kurt Bjørn Nielsen and Lis Viborg in response to the devastating floods in Copenhagen in 2011. Their vision: to provide fast, reliable pump solutions that help communities respond to water emergencies. This vision takes the next step - joining Sulzer’s European rental platform.
Under the leadership of Sarah Viborg, Dansk Overpumpning has grown into a trusted partner for municipalities and industrial clients. Sarah will join Sulzer as Head of Rental Solutions Denmark, continuing the family’s legacy of impact and innovation.
Mathias Pruessing, President of Sulzer’s Flow Division, commented:
"This acquisition is more than strategic, it’s a story of purpose and growth. Dansk Overpumpning’s roots in community resilience and its strong operational capabilities make it a perfect fit for Sulzer’s rental ambitions in the Nordics."
This acquisition enhances Sulzer’s Rental Solutions, which provides engineered temporary solutions for critical pumping, aeration, and water treatment needs across municipal and industrial applications. Combining Sulzer’s world-class equipment with local service expertise, the offering includes Bypass Pumping, Mobile Treatment, and Air for Rent (containerized HST turbo-compressors). With strategically located hubs across Europe, Sulzer delivers fast, reliable, and sustainable rental solutions that keep operations running during maintenance, upgrades, or emergencies – helping customers reduce downtime, capital investment, and environmental impact.
