Stormwater Management Inc. Announces Integrated Dewatering Capabilities in its StormScreen™ Underground Filtration System

StormScreen's innovative dewatering feature improves vector control

PORTLAND, Ore. - Stormwater Management Inc., the leader in the stormwater treatment industry, announces today innovations to its StormScreen™ underground filtration system. New dewatering capabilities enable the StormScreen system to reduce solids decomposition and allow complete drain down in less than 48 hours. The unique option, achieved by the introduction of an integrated drain-down pipe, also reduces maintenance costs and time. This new innovation is a direct result of Stormwater Management's ongoing development of advanced technologies to eliminate standing water in product vaults and significantly improve vector control.

"With mosquito-borne illness on the rise in this country, eliminating standing water has become a focal point for many municipalities," said Stormwater Management President and CEO David Pollock. "In response, our engineers have developed this integrated option for the StormScreen system that enables complete dewatering of our systems and provides engineers and municipalities another tool to use in their work to improve vector control."

Adoption of the StormScreen system has increased throughout the country, especially in California. The popularity of StormScreen is due to the system's ability to exceed regional water quality standards, such as those in place in many municipalities in California, as well as provide lower installation and maintenance costs over the life of the system.

The new optional drain-down pipe allows for complete drain down of the system. It extends the capabilities of Stormwater Management's proprietary float-actuated, siphonic StormScreen system.

The drain-down system is available for any new StormScreen system and can be installed in any existing StormScreen system. Installation can occur as part of the annual maintenance process.

The cost-effective, StormScreen high-flow screening system is used for the removal of trash and debris and some TSS from stormwater runoff. It uses a direct screening mechanism to remove solids larger than the diameter of the perforations in the screen, regardless of the flow rate through the system. The StormScreen is available in various configurations, from small, prefabricated catch basins to large, cast-in-place facilities.

StormScreen can be used alone or in combination with Stormwater Management's StormFilter®, or other systems. Stormwater Management Inc. also addresses the needs of engineers with full design support at no additional cost.

StormScreen is an engineered system that can be designed to serve a wide variety of applications. For more information on StormScreen, please visit www.stormwaterinc.com.
