Solving Water Loss With Actionable Data

Northern California’s Summit Mutual Water Company faced several operational challenges due to aging water meters in its system—made more difficult by the rural terrain teams needed to travel to obtain usage reads. Meters were read monthly, leaving leaks undetected and frustrating customers with higher bills.

In order to reduce non-revenue water loss and eliminate manual reads, the utility installed E-Series® Ultrasonic meters with ORION® Cellular endpoints from Badger Meter for long-term, sustained accuracy, even in low-flow environments.

Today, data is transmitted automatically to the utility, which can view usage in real-time. With BEACON® Software as a Service and the EyeOnWater® customer portal, leaks are found early, and water loss is limited because consumers are given direct access to their water consumption.

Summit Mutual Water Company has used its meter upgrade project to further its goals of water conservation, automated meter reading and leak detection, while gaining cost savings and efficiency.
