SIGMA Corporation Announces Non-Monetary Settlement With FTC
SIGMA Corporation, one of the nation's largest suppliers of products to the waterworks industry, recently announced it has reached a non-monetary agreement with the Federal Trade Commission with respect to the FTC's investigation of certain business practices in the industry. The Company agreed to a proposed consent order that contains no admission of any alleged wrong doing on the part of SIGMA, and the Company continues to strongly dispute each of the allegations made by the FTC against SIGMA. SIGMA believes that the FTC's characterization of its business practices as anything other than pro-competitive is completely misplaced, and that SIGMA has at all times complied with antitrust laws.
SIGMA paid no fine or penalty to settle this investigation, and the consent agreement merely reaffirms and reiterates its proven commitment to promote competitive business practices so that customers receive the best service and prices.
"We are pleased to put this investigation behind us and continue to do what we do best - serving the waterworks industry with quality products at competitive prices," the Company said. "Had SIGMA decided to litigate this matter, we firmly believe we would have prevailed. However, we believe that signing the consent agreement is a prudent alternative to protracted litigation, which would have distracted management and employees, and diverted valuable resources from serving our customers. SIGMA has always been extremely focused on giving customers the best quality service at a competitive price."
