Side stream ozone contacting applications have been made possible with the introduction of cost effective high concentration Ozone generation. A major concern with side stream ozone contacting is the ability to thoroughly mix the treated side stream water flow into the larger main flow.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the advantages of a new injector technology in combination with a new radial-mixing nozzle for an efficient ozone mass transfer and uniform mixing.
This paper focuses on the effects of various operating parameters on ozone mass transfer efficiency and combined flow mixing. The operating parameters evaluated include gas to liquid ratios, pressure, ozone gas concentration, side stream flow volume and main line turbulence. These data can be used for the selection of optimum operating conditions for various water treatment applications.
