SealGuard, Inc.
SealGuard, Inc., based in Mars, PA. has released the newest version of their polyurethane grout which has been extremely successful in manhole rehabilitation projects. The patent pending product is now successfully repairing manhole infiltration in over 30 states.
The History of SealGuard
The SealGuard II material was developed by Sub-Technical, Inc, a geotechnical contracting company that manages large scale ground and water control projects in the civil and mining industry. Sub-Technical, Inc., shares the same owners (Eric Smith and Homer Libengood), as SealGuard, Inc. Originally, the grout was placed into the caulk tubes for the convenience of being able to seal infiltration in the seals of coal mines that were so remote that there was no access to air lines or hoses. The next logical step was to seal a manhole with the product. With tremendous success of the application, and many hours of investigation of the sanitary sewer industry and the problems which are occurring world wide, it was quickly realized that they had a marketable and much needed product for the industry and future environmental concerns.
Everything You Need In One Kit
The starter kit comes in a waterproof box with handle. Each kit contains 12 sets of the dual component SealGuard II, polyurethane grout. Each set of tubes has the capability of stopping 50+ gallons per minute of infiltration. This material has a reaction time of 1-3 seconds and can be injected directly into flowing water. Also included in the kits are 12 static mixers which mix the two components as the material is inserted, a heavy-duty dual component caulk gun, and safety equipment. Each kit is supplied with instructions for use, helpful hints and troubleshooting guide. Everything needed for the application, minus the drill, is in the starter kit. Each component of the kit can be reordered separately for maximum economy. The beauty of the kit is the convenience. If an inspection crew locates a manhole with and infiltration problem, the kit contains everything necessary to repair the problem. There is no need for a second trip, thus saving time and money.
Practical Problems Easily Solved
Manhole barrel joints are one common problem area for infiltration. From the interior of the manhole, locate the joint and problem area, drill 5/8" hole (2"-3" below joint), insert mixer, connect to material in gun and pump to refusal. Repeat on opposite side if needed. Typically, to create a new seal on a joint will take 1-2 sets of tubes.
The company is meeting the demand for SealGuard II by implementing a nationwide network of distributors. Distributor inquiries are welcome.
