Case Study: RSG 30 In Wastewater Treatment Monitoring

The Ecograph T RSG 30 data logger is used to monitor Turbidity, DO and pH and provide critical information to meet EPA standards.

The customer is a 2 MGD wastewater reclamation unit, currently looking to expand to a 5 MGD facility. To comply with EPA standards, a record of the effluent process must be maintained, even during maintenance work on the control systems.

The Ecograph T is connected to three instruments at the effluent section of the plant. Monitoring the turbidity, dissolved oxygen and pH are critical to maintain the correct chemical balance during this stage of wastewater treatment.

The customer was using Controls Systems Historian which did not store any data when maintenance on the control system was being performed. This caused probems between the plant and the local EPA.

The RSG30 works in parallel with Historian and continued logging data during down-time which ensured EPA regulations weren’t violated.

The Echograph is connected to the same network as the control system and freely exchanges data. The customer also has a laptop in the instrument shop with Readwin software installed for ease of local viewing and data analysis.

The ease of configuring the Ecograph directly or using Readwin has completely satisfied the customer. The customer has also installed a backup power supply to ensure critical information is not lost.
