ROTATING MOTORIZED SCUM SKIMMER

Jeffrey-Tropodyne, Division of Tropodyne Corp.ontractor will finnish and install ______ motorized scum skimmer(s) as manufactured by Tropodyne in accordance with the following specifications and contract documents.

SCUM SKIMMER PIPE
Each scum skimmer pipe will be ______ inches in diameter Schedule 40 (stainless) steel pipe with slots approximately ______ long. Slots will be cut with a 60-degree opening and will have a band of at least 1-1/2" between adjacent slots. Pipe slots will be straight and true with the center line of all skimmer pipes. Pipe ends will be perpendicular to the pipe. All pipe cuts will be smooth and free from burrs. At the dead end of the skimmer the pipe will be plugged with a minimum plate size of 3/8".

BRACKET
Each skimmer will be supported by a wall bracket. Each wall bracket will be made of high grade cast iron, ASTM A-48, Class 30-35 or UHMW. Each bracket will have a recess for a packing sleeve. The bracket will have a 1/2" neoprene "0" ring to make a watertight seal. The bracket will be provided with slotted holes for alignment, a flat surface to attach to the wall and a grease fitting for lubrication. A silicone sealant will be used as a gasket against the wall to prevent leakage.

WALL SLEEVE
A pipe wall sleeve of the same diameter as the skimmer will be cast in the wall, where required, to permit flow between adjacent skimmers and discharge from the tanks. Each sleeve will have an intermediate flange. Sleeves will be provided by the mechanical contractor.

DRIVE UNIT
All drive units will be mounted to the concrete with a steel mounting plate. Each drive unit will consist of a drive motor a minimum of NEMA "B," totally enclosed fan cooled. Each unit will have a ______ gear reducer running in an oil bath. Each unit will operate on ______ volts, ______ phase, ______ hertz and have a minimum horsepower of ______.

Each drive unit will operate a scum skimmer pipe in an oscillating motion through an adjustable self aligning linkage.

CONTROL ASSEMBLY
Each unit will employ controls which will allow the scum skimmer to rotate so the lip of the pipe is submerged a minimum of 1/2" to a maximum of 2" below average water level on up and down stream sides. Control will be either manual or timed. Limit switches will provide activation of a timer. The timer can be set for activation from zero minutes to a maximum of ______ minutes / hours. Arrangement of the linkage can deactivate the downstream skimming and adjust the skimming depth.

A NEMA 4 control panel will be furnished containing all contacts, relays, starters and timers used in the operation of the scum skimmer. The control panel will be located in the vicinity of the skimmer as shown on the plans.

PAINT
All metal (except stainless steel, bronze or galvanized) parts will be painted with one coat of standard shop metal primer.

HARDWARE
All hardware will be 304 stainless steel.
