RO Protection At Formosa Plastic Group, Taiwan
Formosa Plastics Group, a prominent plastic industry company in Taiwan, recently faced a significant challenge in dealing with biofouling on their reverse osmosis (RO) membranes used for treating cooling tower water. Studies revealed that a staggering 80% of membrane failures were attributed to biofouling, causing significant disruptions and inefficiencies in the company's wastewater treatment plant.
In an attempt to address this issue, Formosa Plastics Group turned to Atlantium Technologies, a renowned provider of innovative water treatment solutions. Atlantium Technologies installed their highly effective HOD UV system in the water treatment plant to combat biofouling and protect the RO membranes. This advanced system utilizes ultraviolet water disinfection technology and Total Internal Reflection (TIR) technology to efficiently inactivate micro-organisms.
