Case Study: Replacement Of Center Mounted Ultrasonic Level Sensors

An FMR240 (26 GHz) non-contact radar unit has outperformed a center mounted ultrasonic instrument in measuring the level in a bulk hydrochloric acid storage fiberglass tank. In general, the installation in the center of a tank cover causes problems for Time of Flight measurement and thus is not recommended. In this application, a non-metallic tank in combination with the narrow beam angle of a 26 GHz radar instrument overcomes this problem.
