Case Study: Replacement Of Center Mounted Ultrasonic Level Sensors
An FMR240 (26 GHz) non-contact radar unit has outperformed a center mounted ultrasonic instrument in measuring the level in a bulk hydrochloric acid storage fiberglass tank. In general, the installation in the center of a tank cover causes problems for Time of Flight measurement and thus is not recommended. In this application, a non-metallic tank in combination with the narrow beam angle of a 26 GHz radar instrument overcomes this problem.
Company profile
Large municipal wastewater treatment plant
Application
Bulk hydrochloric acid storage tank, 10 foot (3 m) diameter, 18 foot (15.5 m) tall. The ambient temperature can exceed115°F (46°C).
