Water and wastewater utilities have been struggling for years with lack of manpower to handle increasingly complex and demanding operations. As populations increase, the number of such assets and their size have inevitably grown. Yet the supervision of critical assets such as pump stations and sumps has become a challenge with many utilities’ staffing levels, as well as the loss of older, more experienced operators.
