Article: Pre-Engineered Bio-Solids And Slurry Dewatering Systems: Are They Right For Your Location?

By Stuart Sebright, Bright Technologies, a Division of Sebright Products, Inc.

When considering sludge dewatering systems for your facility there is a vast array of technologies and configurations for the core equipment and the ancillary support equipment needed to form a complete system. Whether you are considering a belt filter press, decanter centrifuge, rotary (fan) press or screw press, most are available as pre-engineered, skid mounted systems with support equipment. After the choice has been made for the core technology to be used, you also have a choice of pre-engineered or custom to location (separate components installed by a contractor) type design.

Making a decision on pre-engineered system versus a custom site specific dewatering system can be much like deciding on a manufactured home compared to an onsite constructed home. There are some concessions made to the needs of transportation, location of components and footprint since the whole system is one unit and must be moved from the factory to the owner's location. There are also some significant advantages to pre-engineered over onsite construction.
