Petrobras Selects Siemens Water Technologies For P-53 Produced Water Treatment System
The produced water treatment system will include Monosep™ dissolved gas flotation (DGF) technology, which combines a patented floatation and DGF pump system. The pump uses a dual-sided impeller that pulls both water and gas into the pump, ultimately creating micro fine bubbles that increase the rate of oil droplet flotation.
"The P-53 project is important for us for several reasons," says Mike Robicheaux, general manager of Siemens Water Technologies' Monosep products and services group in Lafayette, La. "The treatment capacity of this system will be the largest we've ever built, treating over 100,000 BPD of produced water. Also, using our proprietary ‘head-in-head' design wave suppressant device, our patented Monosep™ dissolved gas flotation system and super duplex materials will enable us to meet the challenges of the high motion conditions of the FPSO, as well as the corrosive conditions of the water."
The produced water treatment equipment will be constructed of UNS 32750 super duplex stainless steel, and will allow Petrobras to remain in compliance with current stringent discharge criteria (<20 ppm Oil and Grease) while maximizing their production. The award of the P-53 project increases the total number of produced water treatment systems using Monosep brand products in Brazil to 17.
Monosep is a recently acquired product line of Siemens. Monosep products include produced water treatment systems, flowback filtration services and reverse osmosis technology specific to the exploration, production and pipeline industry sectors.
