The Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association (WWEMA) will hold its 47th Washington Forum as a virtual meeting during Water Week 2021, on April 27-29, 2021. The Washington Forum is WWEMA’s annual legislative, regulatory, and policy meeting that directly connects our members, attendees, and invited guests to leaders in the water industry and government, including Congress and the U.S. EPA. This year’s theme is Harnessing the Power of Change. As we slowly emerge from a long year of lockdowns and uncertainly, our work, and indeed our industry has been changed and transformed. We have learned to do business differently, learned how to navigate every known communication platform, and learned the value of personal and professional relationships and our need for face-to-face interactions. We also are experiencing change with a new Administration, a new Congress, and new priorities for our economy and nation. Everyone, members and non-members alike, is invited to join us for this year’s WWEMA Virtual 47th Washington Forum as we hear from leaders in our industry and government who are at the forefront of these changes. Complete information about the meeting can be found HERE.

As part of the full WWEMA program, we will be meeting jointly with the other major water associations during the Water Associations’ Water Week Policy Zoom-In scheduled for Tuesday, April 27 from 2:00 - 4:30 pm ET. This session will allow you to join with other colleagues in the water sector to hear from senior EPA officials, including Administrator Michael Regan; Acting Assistant Administrator for Water, Radhika Fox; and the Office of Water Directors; as well as key Members of Congress including Senator Tom Carper (D-DE), Chairman, U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works;  Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Ranking Member, U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works;  Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, Chair, House Committee on Appropriations, Interior and Environment Subcommittee; and Congressman David Joyce, Ranking Member, House Committee on Appropriations, Interior and Environment Subcommittee regarding their priorities and the legislative and regulatory outlook for 2021 and beyond.

He will examine U.S. trade relationships, analyze business sectors, and explore critical issues involving labor, skills, automation, and immigration. Most importantly, he will share his invaluable insight by offering survival strategies to improve business competitiveness and reduce risks by shedding light on what's ahead. We will also hear from Adam Krantz, the CEO of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies, regarding utility perspectives on challenges, opportunities, and priorities; the Chief Economist  of the Associated General Contractors of America, Ken Simonson, who will discuss the mid- and long-term outlook for construction and materials price escalation; Marty Durbin from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, who will discuss advocacy efforts on infrastructure, their perspective on the American Jobs Plan, infrastructure, and the role of technology innovation, and trade and supply chain issues. Eric Sapirstein, President of ENS Resources, will discuss the political dynamics of rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure. The program will also feature networking roundtables that will allow meeting participants to engage in an information exchange about critical and timely water issues. Additional networking opportunities will be provided within the Whova meeting platform, allowing participants to connect with each other. A list of speakers and their bios can be found HERE.
