Pelican Park replaced its aging 3,000 GPD wastewater treatment plant after decades of service, gaining reliable treatment designed for more than one million annual visitors.
Pelican Park in Mandeville, Louisiana, is a 550-acre community park serving more than one million visitors annually. With 32 athletic fields, two gyms, a 46,000-square-foot multipurpose community center, an 18-hole disc golf course, and parking for more than 1,700 vehicles, the park requires dependable wastewater treatment to support its extensive operations.
Nearly 35 years ago, the community installed a 3,000 GPD ENVIRO-AIRE Package Wastewater Treatment Plant. After decades of service, the aging system had reached the end of its expected life cycle. The aboveground steel tank had experienced significant rust and required several patches, reflecting the limitations of the preparation and coating methods used when it was originally installed.
Because park staff were pleased with the existing system’s performance and longevity, they selected a new ENVIRO-AIRE Package Wastewater Treatment Plant as its replacement. The familiar system design allowed the team to transition to updated equipment while maintaining confidence in the treatment approach they had relied on for decades.
ENVIRO-AIRE Package Wastewater Treatment Plants are custom designed to meet the wastewater treatment requirements of individual sites. Factory-built as self-contained units, they are shipped to the project location and require minimal assembly, helping simplify installation.
The new system was installed and started up in early 2021. Installation proceeded smoothly, and the plant has been operating as expected. Today, the replacement system provides reliable wastewater treatment for a busy community destination handling more than 12,000 visitors on a typical Saturday and approximately one million visitors each year.
