NWPX Highlights GreaseTrooper Gravity Grease Interceptors For FOG Control

Gravity grease interceptors remove fats, oils, and greases from wastewater to reduce overflows and extend infrastructure service life
NWPX Park and NWPX Geneva, divisions of NWPX Infrastructure, a global leader in the design and construction of innovative water utilities and environmental solutions, is proud to highlight their GreaseTrooper Gravity Grease Interceptor (GGI), a reliable, code-compliant solution for restaurants, institutional kitchens, food processing plants, and industrial facilities that must manage fats, oils, and greases (FOG) in wastewater.
GreaseTrooper interceptors operate on the principle of buoyancy, using a gravity-flow design and a series of internal baffles to slow incoming wastewater and separate it into distinct layers: grease rises to the top, solids settle at the bottom, and clarified water exits through an outlet baffle. Available in capacities from 500 to 20,000 gallons, the systems can be right-sized to match meal volumes and service conditions across a variety of facilities, from small foodservice operations to large industrial sites.
Durable interceptor vaults are available in precast concrete, stainless steel, or fiberglass, with options for aboveground, freestanding, or direct-bury installation, giving project teams flexibility to specify the optimal material and configuration for site and performance requirements. Interior and exterior protective liners, such as HDPE or epoxy, provide additional corrosion and abrasion resistance for long service life in demanding wastewater environments.
To simplify installation and maintenance, GreaseTrooper GGIs are delivered as turnkey, pre-piped systems that help reduce on-site labor and speed project schedules. Direct-bury models include heavy-duty access covers to withstand traffic loads and provide safe access for inspection and cleaning, while aboveground configurations are well-suited for tight footprints and retrofit projects. For proactive operation, units can be equipped with a remote maintenance alarm that monitors grease levels inside the interceptor and alerts staff when the grease layer reaches a pre-defined thickness, typically around 12 inches, so pump-outs can be scheduled with a licensed wastewater disposal company before capacity is exceeded.
By combining flexible sizing, multiple construction options, turnkey installation, and integrated maintenance monitoring, NWPX’s GreaseTrooper interceptors provide owners, engineers, and municipalities with a single source, engineered system for FOG control that protects sanitary sewer systems and supports long-term infrastructure performance.
