New Officers Take Reigns at Nalco Chemical Company

Nalco Chemical Company, a subsidiary of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux, has announced the election of six new company officers.

Daniel M. Harker has been elected vice president, manufacturing and logistics. Harker graduated from Youngstown State University, receiving a BS in mechanical engineering. For the past two years, Harker has been vice president, operations at Calgon Corporation. Harker reports to James F. Lambe, senior vice president.

Now vice president, environmental health and safety, Audrone M. Karalius joined Nalco in 1975 as a chemist and held a variety of positions in the industrial research department. In 1979, Karalius joined the firm's legal department as a paralegal and in 1982 received her J.D. degree from Loyola University. She subsequently practiced labor and environmental law for the company until she transferred to its environmental health and safety department in 1996 as EH&S compliance manager. Karalius reports to James F. Lambe, senior vice president.

Roger Nass has been elected vice president, research and development. Nass joined the company in 1969 as a chemist. In 1987, Nass was appointed division vice president, industrial chemicals research, and in 1992 he transferred to Nalco Europe as vice president, research and development. In 1996, Nass relocated and was promoted to division vice president, technical support. Nass reports to Steven D. Newlin, president.

Now serving as vice president and general counsel, J. Michael Newton joined the company in 1990. Since that time he has been responsible for managing the company's litigation and for handling the legal matters for a number of its key operating groups. Newton reports to James F. Lambe, senior vice president.

James M. Ondyak, elected vice president, corporate marketing, joined Nalco in 1982 as a product specialist in cooling water marketing. In 1998, Ondyak was promoted to general manager, paper for Europe. Ondyak reports to Steven D. Newlin, president.

Elizabeth R. Ewing has been elected treasurer. Ewing joined the company in 1995 as sssistant treasurer, international. Prior to that time, she had 15 years experience at Chemical Bank and more recently was a vice president at Societe Generale. Ewing reports to Edward J. Mooney, chairman and CEO.
