New Longwatch Infrastructure Surveillance System Features IP Cameras And Integrated Access Control

Customers Benefit by Utilizing Existing SCADA Communications Networks

Norwood, MA — Longwatch, the leader in SCADA enabled remote video surveillance for the water supply and energy infrastructure, has announced the release of version 3.0 of its Video Surveillance System. The Longwatch Video Surveillance System enables SCADA system operators to visually monitor their remote locations using existing communication networks. The system utilizes existing low-bandwidth or broadband communication networks to transmit video. New features include:

  • IP Cameras: The addition of Axis IP camera operability allows users additional flexibility and functionality. Built-in store-and-forward capability and digital video recording (DVR) at remote sites provides users enhanced performance.
  • Card Access Control: Video surveillance and card access integration allows operators to provide a higher level of security at remote locations. Operators can now have immediate visual confirmation of people entering a facility or store a video clip for future reference. This unique capability eliminates the high cost and hassles of utilizing traditional key entry at remote locations. The utilization of industry standard components and cards, and the ability to manage access to remote facilities from a central location offers operators a groundbreaking solution to a serious problem.
  • Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) Cameras: PTZ cameras can significantly reduce installation costs by eliminating the need for multiple cameras. One camera can provide surveillance of multiple areas at a remote site and allows operators the ability to easily change operating parameters as needed.
  • Enhanced System Integration: New design functionality allows the Longwatch Video Surveillance System to easily integrate into the majority of video security systems in the marketplace. Operators now have more options on how to best utilize Longwatch's advanced video technology.
"Longwatch had an immediate impact on the video surveillance industry when we introduced our product," said Don Simoneau, CEO of Longwatch. "We changed the game by allowing SCADA systems operators to utilize existing communications networks and eliminating the need for installing costly new communication paths. With 3.0 we offer operators the most comprehensive security solution for remote locations. Our customers in the water supply, utility, and energy infrastructure markets challenged us to incorporate IP camera and card access control capabilities. I'm extremely pleased we have been able to provide the increased functionality they need to secure their remote locations."
