New CMO Appointed As Transformational Membrane Technologies Launched Commercially
- First generation of graphene-enhanced membranes proven full-scale
- Company shifts from R&D focus to scale-up commercially successful technology
- Andrew Walker to drive marketing and business development
UK technology business G2O Water Technologies has expanded its executive management team with the appointment of Andrew Walker as Chief Marketing Officer to join Craig Clement (Chief Operating Officer) and Chris Wyres (Chief Executive Officer).
“As we shift gear, launching an exciting range of industrially proven products, Andrew will help us to reach out with our brand, expand the range of markets we address and accelerate growth”, said Chris Wyres, CEO. “He has a strong reputation with key partners including, clients, investors and associations and a good knowledge of many of the industrial sectors we’re targeting, so his role will include developing the business with our team and our strategic partners.”
Upon his appointment, Andrew Walker commented, “My personal ambition since getting ‘addicted to water’ years ago has been to use the power of marketing to evoke and invite water abundance in which nature and humans thrive sustainably. Technology has a key role to play in shifting the paradigm of our old patterns of thinking to transform from linearity to circularity and decarbonise in the process. I am proud that such transformative ‘wonder materials’ and advanced manufacturing techniques are coming out of the region I was born and grew up in.”
The company has pioneered the enhancement of membranes used in reverse osmosis, micro-, ultra- and nanofiltration processes with graphene oxide. Coated in it, G2O’s polymer and ceramic membranes effectively mitigate the effects of biofouling, typically saving 60-70% of the energy otherwise needed in the process. Membranes live longer, less chemicals are required and water can be recycled at a higher flux rate more successfully, preserving the local water resources.
COO Craig Clement noted, “It is no coincidence that Andrew has joined the team just as we’re launching our first generation of products after completingsuccessful piloting and full-scale operation with our first commercial project in the industrial laundry sector. We’re confident in our abilities to scale-up this transformational technology and are in deep discussion with numerous potential clients in and beyond the traditional water sector who see great potential in what we offer.”
Beyond graphene, the company’s next generation of additive (3D) manufactured membranes promise a transformational performance boost, overcoming inherent and fundamental limitations of existing membranes and creating the opportunity to customise and optimise to individual client needs.
Walker is known to some in the water sector for the Blue Gold Marketing consultancy he founded in 2007, which continues unabated by his new position as CMO of G2O Water Technologies.
“My new colleagues at G2O are passionate experts on the same transformational mission and I am thrilled to be joining the team”, he continued. “The company is a forerunner that’s going places and this is a great opportunity for me to help it get there. Together with a myriad of existing market partners, we are making low-energy membrane filtration and the recovery of valuable resources from fluid sources simple and ubiquitous. I firmly believe that these technologies will help address one of society’s key questions: how to transition to a water abundant, circular economy that provides for all and heals the climate.”
