NACWA Honors Peak Performance And Excellence In Management Award Winners In Virtual 50th Anniversary Commemoration

50 Years of Clean Water Achievement Report and Video Also Released During Ceremony

Today, the winners of the 2020 NACWA Peak Performance Awards and Excellence in Management Awards were honored in a digital ceremony that coincided with the National Association of Clean Water Agencies’ (NACWA) 50th Anniversary Commemoration. Originally scheduled to take place in Seattle, Washington at the site of NACWA’s founding, the coronavirus pandemic led to the awards and anniversary celebrations going digital for the first time in history, allowing for broader participation from members and utilities throughout the country.

Adam Krantz, Chief Executive Officer of NACWA, applauds this year’s recipients, noting:
Our public utility members are the backbone of the communities they serve, providing safe, reliable access to clean water services day-in and day-out. The Peak Performance Award and Excellence in Management Award ceremony is our chance to shine a national spotlight on those outstanding clean water utilities that have demonstrated operational excellence.

On behalf of NACWA’s Board of Directors, I extend my congratulations and gratitude to all this year’s award winners and I thank them for their service and their incredible compliance with increasingly rigid Clean Water Act standards. This year has seen unprecedented challenges in the wake of the pandemic, and the Peak Performance and Excellence in Management Award winners have more than risen to the occasion”

Also of note during this year’s 50th Anniversary Commemoration was the release of NACWA’s Fifty Years of Clean Water Achievement report, video and website. A comprehensive effort to quantify the amazing success and beneficial impacts of the public clean water sector over the last 50 years, this report includes case studies from numerous public clean water utilities to gauge the social, economic and environmental impacts NACWA’s members have had across the nation over the course of the past five decades. In addition to deep dives into the transformation of America’s public clean water utilities as a whole, individual utilities also had the chance to share their success stories from their own personal histories. The report was made publicly available during the 50th Anniversary Commemoration, but the project will continue digitally with NACWA continuing to encourage utilities to share their stories online.

To accompany the report, NACWA also released an animated educational video detailing the history of NACWA, how the evolution of NACWA has mirrored that of the Clean Water Act, and the resulting environmental and public health benefits. By sharing the remarkable story of community transformation in this format, NACWA intends to increase knowledge and appreciation of the public clean water sector in the communities they serve.
