Municipal Effluent Treatment In India
In a bid to improve wastewater treatment for one of India's largest cities, a government agency addressed significant challenges related to water disinfection. The city’s sewage treatment plant, handling up to 91 million liters daily, previously relied on chlorination, which posed environmental risks and potential health hazards from by-products like trichloroethane. To mitigate these issues, Atlantium’s advanced Hydro-Optic Disinfection (HOD™) UV technology was introduced, allowing efficient, eco-friendly water treatment with reduced reliance on harmful chemicals. The HOD UV system, equipped with optimized lamps and real-time monitoring sensors, successfully reduced fecal coliform levels from 1,700 to just 33 MPN per 100 ml, aligning with strict regulatory standards. This case exemplifies a scalable, safe approach to urban water management amidst increasing demand for sustainable solutions.
